After a group breakfast the group will depart the hotel on the first leg of the trip. The ride will take us through the hills that surround the Kathmandu Valley and begin to show the first glimpses of the Himalayas as we travel through the countryside. This area showcases the farming towns of local region. We will reach Besisahar where we will spend the first night. The town will be the first destination described before the main point of the first night. This is the start of the restricted section of the valley, called the Annapurna range. The journey will take around 5–6 hours with a distance of 176km.
After breakfast, we will depart Besisahar and continue our ride to the town of Tal. This is where the road will become narrower and the first sections of dirt and unsealed roads will appear. The first of many bridges that allow us to cross large sections of the Annapurna region. Along the way we will stop at any scenic and historical attractions. The scenic roads through dramatic rock formations and waterfalls have to be seen to be believed. In the late evening we should reach Tal and stay in a hotel for the evening.
After breakfast, we will depart Tal. This section of the ride will prove more difficult with steeper and more challenging unsealed sections. However for anyone who enjoys a challenge this is some of the most rewarding riding of the trip. Along the way you will be provided with several spectacular sights, including snow-capped mountains, rivers and forests with changing vegetation as we ascend further in the range. This section will take around 3 to 3.5 hours to reach Manang.
After morning breakfast with the group, clients are free to sightsee and explore around the Manang Valley. This will be a day of sightseeing and resting as clients will need to acclimatise if they wish to adventure further. The Manang valley itself has a monastic way of life. Exploring the villages you will see how the local people survive and live in this region. Our tour guide and representatives of the group will be able to show around the place and introduce you to many of the local people. There are many ancient monastery’s, lakes, rivers, in the area which is a sight to behold. So there is much to see and do.
Option 1: This will be a two-day trip on horseback from Manang to Tilicho lake and back. On the 8th this day you will depart Manang towards Tilicho Lake with a local guide leading the way. Once you exit Manang, the journey challenges those riding skills and fitness. The way to the lake is narrow with rivers to cross and steep cliffs surrounding you on both sides. Once you reach the lake the horses you or your guide will have to walk your horses below the range to the camp for the night. This area is at a high altitude and where you will be provided with a meal for the night at a hotel and acclimatisation. The next morning we will depart our night camp and return to the main region by horseback before lunch.
Option 2: If horse riding is not your thing. Not to worry the Manang valley has a multitude of hikes, off road riding, cultural sites, lakes and sightseeing to immerse yourself in.
After breakfast we will depart Manang and descend down the mountain and ride to Chame. We will follow the same route we took to reach here. However we can take alternate paths as we ride and see other places along the way if you wish. Once we reach Chame we will stay and rest in the hotel for the evening.
After breakfast we will depart Chame and make our way to Besisahar. The ride back also allows us time to stop at places and sights/landmarks we didn’t have time to on the ascend. So not to worry, doing the ride down once again allows more time to stop in if you were to identify sights of interest. Once we reach Besisahar we will rest and stay in a hotel provided for the night.
After breakfast we will depart for Kathmandu. This will be one of the more tiring sections of the ride being the road for many days. Depending on the traffic on the way towards this section can be the longest. However we will make sure to take rest stops along the way so you’re accommodated. This section has many opportunities for scenic photography with views of the Western Himalayas in Nepal before returning and seeing greenery all the way back to Kathmandu. Once we reach the hotel you can return the hotel layout your luggage and rest. Depending on the time we get to you, plans will be altered around that. Most likely early nights rest.
Depending on your schedule, this day can rest day where we have a final day together as a group celebrating the trip and some celebratory beverages and food. Followed by departure to the airport the next day or the 13th depending on flight schedules. On this last day, you can freely sightsee around Kathmandu or enjoy fine dining or test rest and recover after the adventure. For anyone still in Kathmandu, There is always things to do and see in the city so it’s advised to take as much in.
